allpago joins the Association of Payments Aggregators in Mexico (ASAMEP)

06.06.2017

allpago has joined the Mexican Association of Payments Aggregators ASAMEP (Asociación de Agregadores de Medios de Pago), a new organization that has been established to boost e-commerce in Mexico.

The association, which is led by the Mexican payments expert Adolfo Babatz, will seek to increase the use of electronic payments, work with regulatory organizations and promote financial inclusion. Additionally, it is currently reviewing the new fintech law that the CNBV (Comisión Nacional Bancaria y de Valores) plans to release later this year.

Main goals of the association:

  • Define self-regulation measures and comply with regulatory association rules.
  • Promote financial inclusion through the acceptance of electronic payment methods in sectors that are not usually assisted by traditional banks.
  • Represent its members in the payment industry, regulatory associations, and the public in general.
  • Promote the inclusion and participation of new members in the payments ecosystem by increasing the competition.

ASAMEP’s goals are a natural fit for allpago and demonstrate that aggregators in the country are determined to be proactive in promoting financial inclusion and making Mexico a leader in global e-commerce. Membership demonstrates compliance with local legislation, high information security and fraud prevention standards, and a commitment to customer service.

“This initiative comes in addition to the efforts to increase financial inclusion in a structured way, with fair rules and opportunities for all participants and with a view to increasing competition in the Mexican payment system.” mentioned Adolfo Babatz, President of ASAMEP.

We look forward to sharing our expertise about payments in Latin America, working with partners to help improve the e-commerce experience in Mexico and sharing insight around the regulatory environment.
